WWE officials were pleased with top match on Monday’s Raw | Wrestling News

WWE decided to load up Monday’s episode of Raw by not only having a WWE Championship Match between The Miz and Bobby Lashley but also booking Sheamus vs. Drew McIntyre in the opening match.

Lashley beat The Miz in the main event to win the WWE Title while McIntyre went over his bitter rival. There was criticism from fans regarding the booking decision to have McIntyre vs. Sheamus, which has been building for the past few weeks once Sheamus turned heel by attacking McIntyre, on Raw instead of saving it for the Fastlane pay-per-view event.

The match, which went about 24 minutes, received praise from fans on social media for the quality. Fightful Select reported today that those WWE higher-ups they talked with were “pleased with the match, and noted specifically Sheamus’ in-ring hot streak of late.” It was added that a large portion of the match was called in the ring as well.

It will be interesting to see how WWE handles Fastlane booking as there’s been no reported direction for the Raw brand at this show. It’s possible Miz gets his rematch for the WWE Title against Lashley at this show or they could go in a different direction. Based on watching WWE TV, most would speculate that WWE is saving McIntyre vs. Lashley for the WWE Title for WrestleMania 37.
