In addition to the news that Paul Wight, formerly known as The Big Show, had signed a long-term deal with AEW, the promotion also confirmed the impending debut of AEW Dark: Elevation. The show is set to air Mondays on AEW’s YouTube channel at 7 p.m. ET.
Since the promotion had signed an extension with TNT in January 2020, there’s been speculation about when a second show on TNT would premiere. AEW never specified if the show would be airing on TNT or a different WarnerMedia network nor did it air in 2020.
There was some confusion among fans when AEW Dark: Elevation was announced as the following was stated in the press release:
“The parties have agreed to launch another night of AEW action, offering more of the fans’ favorite wrestlers, with a second show straight-to- series.”
Some thought this was a way to announce the second show, but that’s not the case. AEW President Tony Khan responded on Twitter by noting that a second show on TNT is still coming. He previously confirmed the new show would be on TNT in an interview with TSN. He wrote the following:
“That’s also still happening in 2021! And we’ll have more info tonight on #AEWDynamite about the arrival of @PaulWight here in @AEW, and about the launch and details for #AEWDark: Elevation, which is coming very soon!”
