AEW has booked a Face of the Revolution ladder match at the Revolution pay-per-view.
The winner of this match is slated to get a shot at Darby Allin’s TNT Title. That was known in advance, but what wasn’t known was when the title match would take place.
AEW President Tony Khan confirmed the title match will take place on next week’s Dynamite during Thursday’s AEW Unrestricted podcast. So far, there are five competitors confirmed for the match – Cody Rhodes, Scorpio Sky, Penta El Zero M, Lance Archer and Max Caster. The sixth competitor will be a surprise entrant, who will be announced on the PPV.
On Wednesday’s Dynamite, Archer and Caster had to win matches in order to qualify. Khan noted there will literally be a brass ring the winner has to pull down in order to win the ladder match, which is of course a nod to Vince McMahon for making that reference in 2014.
Khan also kept things kayfabe by noting that Allin, who will team up with Sting against Brian Cage and Ricky Starks in a Street Fight at Revolution, will have to defend the title on next week’s Dynamite or he forfeits the title.
