There is talk of a new Friday night wrestling show on cable | Wrestling News

It looks more professional wrestling content will be added to the TV schedule sometime this year.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer cited a key player in business saying that a lot of deals are being talked about for 2021. The person told Meltzer that more people in the TV world are willing to talk business now that things are looking more hopeful in the world.

Meltzer added that the Friday at 10 pm timeslot after SmackDown has been discussed by several companies regarding a one-hour show. The idea behind this is that this would be a good time to air a wrestling show since so many fans are home because of SmackDown.

It’s unclear if Friday night is what AEW is looking at for their new TV show or if this story is related to another company like Impact Wrestling or MLW. There are plans for a one-hour show on TNT sometime this year so Friday’s at 10 pm easter could be a possibility. That has been the timeslot used for some of their pay-per-view countdown shows.

WrestlingNews.co reached out to a source to see if the additional hour on Friday was related to WWE. We were told that there are no plans for WWE to add an extra hour of WWE programming on Fox Sports 1 or elsewhere.
