There has been talk of reviving Lucha Underground | Wrestling News

Fans of Lucha Underground could see the concept make a return after being shut down for a few years.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there have been discussions about this, but it would be under a different name.
Meltzer wrote, “There is at least the beginning of talk of reviving Lucha Underground. It would be the same type of ideas, although with a different name.”
The promotion aired on the El Rey Network on Wednesday nights. It premiered in October 2014 and ran for 4 seasons with the last episode airing in November 2018.
In recent months, MLW has used several aspects of Lucha Underground. Lucha Underground had several wrestlers who are currently under contract with AEW and WWE such as Brian Cage, Lucha Brothers, Taya Valkyrie, Rey Mysterio, John Morrison, Sammy Guevara, Ricochet, and Karrion Kross. Joey Ryan was also featured.
Vampiro, who worked on the project, has stated in the past that the promotion was done for good. The series never had a season 5 nor a proper ending due to budget issues. As it stands right now, there’s no word yet on when this revival might be happening. Fans can still check out the series on Tubi.
