MJF made his long-awaited return at AEW All Out and since then has been a highlight of AEW television. Obviously, this was a big moment for AEW, despite the face that CM Punk’s media scrum fiasco directly overshadowed it.
While speaking to Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour, MJF confirmed that he signed a new deal with AEW without any contract extension. He also made it clear that he did not sign any extension with Tony Khan’s company.
According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, MJF further received a significant pay boost of over $1 million per year to return.
MJF did an interview with Ariel Helwani to promote the Arthur Ashe Stadium show. He said that he got a huge raise in pay to return (based on things we heard it’s was more than $1 million per year) and claimed he did not have to sign an extension and his contract expires on January 1, 2024.
MJF made an impact on AEW right away by winning the Casino Ladder Match when he made his comeback at the All Out pay-per-view earlier this month. It’s a crucial precursor to an AEW World Championship match, and MJF took home the poker chip that was suspended above the ring. Now, MJF can challenge for the AEW World Title at any sanctioned event.
We will have to wait and see whether MJF will end up winning the AEW World Title. Till then, fans will be waiting with bated breath regarding MJF’s future in the company.
