Kurt Angle Didn’t Admit His Alcohol Issues Until He Was Forced Into Rehab

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle is undoubtedly one of the best pro wrestlers to have ever graced the squared circle. He had a tremendous career in WWE, spanning multiple World Title runs and incredible matches. However, his body went through a lot of wear and tear over the years, and Angle eventually burned out in 2006. Even after that, he had been arrested for multiple DUIs in his life.

Kurt Angle’s longstanding battle with painkiller addiction took its toll on him, and his relationship with Vince McMahon also suffered in 2006. He was then arrested for DUI back in 2007, shortly after signing with TNA.

While speaking on his podcast, Kurt Angle talked about his various issues relating to alcohol. Angle revealed that he didn’t his alcohol issues until he was forced into rehab back in 2013. This was despite the fact that he had been arrested for DUI four times.

“I was having a tough time. I was making horrible decision. Irresponsible decisions. Getting four DUIs in five years was just ridiculous. When you’re doing that, you know you have a problem. I didn’t want to admit it until I ended up going to rehab in 2013. It took me awhile to come to my gripes, but eventually I did.”

Kurt Angle would make his way to TNA after leaving WWE in 2006 and made his WWE return back in 2017, until he was let go again. He is set to appear on this week’s Smackdown to celebrate his birthday, so we’ll have to see how that will turn out.
