In just two weeks, Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez will be cashing in their championship opportunity for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. Kai & Gonzalez made history as the winners of the first-ever Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic this past Sunday. With this came a trophy and a title shot.
Women’s Tag Team Champions Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax made their way to NXT this week to confirm the match will take place on March 3. The confrontation occurred when the tournament winners were celebrating in the ring alongside MSK who won the men’s tournament. Baszler and Jax had a lot to say to their challengers and vice versa.
Kai took the time to introduce Gonzalez to both Jax and Baszler. She reinforces that Baszler ran away from NXT after Rhea Ripley bear her for the NXT Women’s Title at the end of 2019. Gonzalez chimes in and says the same Ripley that hasn’t been seen in NXT since she defeated her in a Last Woman Standing match.
As MSK and Beth Phoenix eat popcorn in the corner watching the verbal smackdown, Baszler responds by bringing up the moment that she broke Kai’s arm. Kai confirms that she isn’t the same person that she used to be back then. As the segment comes to an end and the champions leave the ring and head up the ramp, Gonzalez gets in the last words.
It is important to note that Naomi & Lana also have a future tag team title shot. It is unclear when they will get this title match which was earned a few weeks ago. As of Monday’s RAW commentary, it was still mentioned that Naomi & Lana had a future title opportunity.
Lana defeated Jax in a tables match last week but failed to defeat Baszler this week. Naomi holds a victory over Baszler from last week.
What do you make of Kai & Gonzalez getting their title shot in two weeks? Do you think this means they will win the titles or will their efforts be halted? Leave your thoughts below!
