Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul Pay-Per-View Buy Numbers Are A Bit Disappointing

Loga Paul and Floyd Mayweather threw down in an exhibition boxing match last week, and fans bought the pay-per-view. It turns out that the interest wasn’t there that some previously thought.

It was reported that the early pay-per-view buy numbers for the event were not great at all. Now the real numbers are coming in and they really could have done better.

Paul and Mayweather had fine deals. Money was set to make 50% of all pay-per-view buys with Paul getting 10%. They also had a ton of guaranteed money coming to them as well.

According to USA Today Sports, the pay-per-view did around 1 million buys at the end of the day. That is far lower than expected. That means they generated only $50 million with the event. That’s a lot of money, but nothing compared to what they were hoping for.

To put it into perspective, Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao got over 4.5 million people watching. His bout with Logan Paul did not stack up to that number at all.

We’ll have to see if this is a sign that these kind of boxing events are just dying off in popularity. Celebrity boxing saw a peak with Jake Paul and Logan Paul’s involvement. Jake will fight Tyron Woodley on August 28th. Hopefully, they will garner a better result.

What’s your take on this situation? Are you surprised they only pulled in 1 million buys?
