WWE reached out to several AEW talents about coming back to the home turf. It appears that certain AEW stars wanted to come back to WWE. Now it seems that former AEW star Bobby Fish tried to make sure his former Undisputed Era partners leave the company for WWE.
Wrestling Observer Newsletter‘s Ryan Frederick reported on the Wrestling Observer message board that Fish tried to convince Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly to leave AEW. He reportedly asked them to get their AEW releases so that they could get back to WWE.
I posted it in the Bobby Fish thread but I know Fish was trying to get them to Cole and Kyle to ask for their releases to go back to WWE and they both told him no.
It’s possible Cole may have clued Tony in. If he did, I doubt he was the only one. I’m sure Swerve was one of them who did so.
Cole and O’Reilly have several years left until their AEW contracts are up. They don’t seem too inclined to go from the roster, however. Cole is expected to return to AEW programming once again, as he was recovering from an injury.
O’Reilly recently went through neck surgery, so he’s definitely going to come back sometime next year. Bobby Fish is done with AEW as his contract expired on August 31st.
Fish left the company after he wasn’t happy with the kind of booking he was receiving. He recently expressed that working under Triple H gave him a lot of pride, which wasn’t the case with working under Tony Khan.
