AEW files to trademark Paul Wight’s character from ‘The WaterBoy’ film | Wrestling News

AEW filed for the trademark to the name of ‘Captain Insano’ with The United States Patent and Trademark Office on March 2nd.

The filing is for use in video games and digital media. It’s likely AEW will use the character in its upcoming console video game since they’ve signed Wight to a multi-year deal. Here is the description:

“International Class 09: Video game cartridges and discs; Digital media, namely, pre-recorded DVDs, downloadable audio and video recordings, and CDs featuring and promoting wrestling; Downloadable video game software; Recorded video game software.”

Of course, Paul Wight, formerly known as The Big Show, portrayed the character in the 1998 film “The Waterboy” starring Adam Sandler. It should be noted that Children’s author Christopher Williamson filed for the trademark to use in one of his books and he was granted registration of the trademark last August. However, due to it having different usage, AEW could still be granted trademark rights.
