AEW announces new talent signing | Wrestling News

AEW President Tony Khan took to Twitter on Friday to announce the latest talent signing.

Shawn Dean has signed with All Elite Wrestling. Khan wrote the following about it:

“Thank you for your service to the USA, @ShawnDean773, + thank you for everything you’ve done for @AEW to help us thrive through the pandemic. Your consistent hard work, positivity + reliability have made you so valuable to #AEW; now it’s my honor to officially welcome you aboard!”

Dean commented on the news by writing, “Wow….just Wow…..this has been a journey …hard work… dedication…against all adversity I stayed the course and it has led to this….dreams work with hard work!!! @TonyKhan and MY entire @AEW family thank you …thank you ….#Salute and ….#ImWithAEW.”

Dean, who is a Navy veteran, started his pro wrestling training in 2017 and went to work for WWA4 before working for other independent wrestling promotions such as EVOLVE. He made his AEW debut in March 2020 by dropping a loss to Shawn Spears on an episode of AEW Dark. While he’s mostly been used on Dark, he made his Dynamite debut by losing to MJF in September 2020. He’s been teaming up with Carlie Bravo as of late.

This is a signing that comes from AEW using more indy wrestlers for Dark and Dean making a good impression on AEW officials. Khan has stated in the past that the reason there are so many matches on Dark is due to him wanting to support indy wrestlers as there are not a lot of indy promotions running shows these days due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
