6 possible RAW women’s championship matches at WrestleMania – Diva Dirt

The “Showcase of the Immortals” WrestleMania is fast approaching and the RAW Women’s Championship scene is wide open.

As SmackDown confirmed their women’s championship match, RAyet to impliment any angle, storyline or feud to highlight the women’s title.

For months Asuka has been mishandled and involved in storylines that have left the RAW Women’s Championship feeling lacklustre and unimportant.

As WWE travels along the “road to WrestleMania“, they need to give the champion and the championship a lot more focus, direction and emphasis.

The messy state and awkward booking of the RAW women’s division gives WWE several opportunities to get the title back on track and feel important once again.

Despite the lack of focus and direction in the title’s booking, it does leave the champion with several potential challengers. Before we reach “The Greatest Spectacle in Sports Entertainment”, there is another event, Fastlane taking place on March 21st. This additional show could mean some significant changes to the RAW title scene or even a new champion.

In this article, we will look at six potential RAW Women’s Championship matches for WrestleMania.

Asuka vs Charlotte

Let’s get the most obvious out of the way first. The “Queen” and the “Empress of Tomorrow” have a long history that involves a title match at WrestleMania 34. Since then, they have crossed paths many times. In fact, Asuka was Charlotte’s last opponent before her six-month absence.

Upon her return at TLC last year, many fans assumed that Charlotte’s tag team win with Asuka would lead to a break-up and resulting feud over the title. However, this hasn’t happened as Charlotte was tied up with her dad and Lacey Evans. With that uncomfortable angle out of the way, it leaves WWE to go down the most clear-cut route and book the feud and resulting in a WrestleMania match for title between the two legends.

Three for the price of one right here! Rhea Ripley is set to make her long-awaited debut on the main roster soon, and her presence will hopefully give the RAW women’s division the shakeup it so desperately needs.

The positives that Ripley’s debut will bring are many, especially for the RAW Women’s Championship. For example, Ripley could be involved with the title in several ways;

Asuka vs Ripley would be a fantastic first-time clash of two warriors. Ripley and Asuka have never met inside the ring, and the potential for a match of the ages is great. Ripley and Asuka are perfect opponents for each other as they both have something to prove. Asuka has been criminally underutilized and needs an enemy like Ripley to reignite her killer instinct. While Ripley needs to make an impact on the main roster and going straight after Asuka and the title is the way to go.

Asuka vs Ripley vs Charlotte is a triple threat match that could very much take place at WrestleMania. Charlotte has a history with both wrestlers, and with the title involved, we could have one of the best women’s matches in WrestleMania history.

Ripley vs Charlotte is the match that pretty much writes itself. At last year’s event, Charlotte defeated Ripley for the NXT Women’s Championship in an incredible match. The loss derailed Ripley’s momentum and knocked the NXT women’s division off-kilter. A year later, the “Nightmare” has a chance to right those wrongs, but this time in a match with the RAW Women’s Championship on the line.

Asuka vs Alexa Bliss

We only got a taste of what a feud between these two can do. Before Royal Rumble, they fought over the title briefly, which unfortunately existed only to forward the Fiend and Randy Orton storyline rather than a title programme.

WWE would be wise to revisit the feud with some proper focus and drive behind it. The angle didn’t reach a conclusion as Orton interfered, causing a disqualification finish. Bliss defeated Asuka the previous week in a non-title match, which the “Empress of Tomorrow” should demand she get the chance to avenge.

Bliss is doing the best work of her career, and her interactions with Asuka were excellent. Understandably the Alexa Bliss/Feind character isn’t for everyone. But a feud between two of WWE’s most entertaining performers could give us a fun and frantic title match at WrestleMania 37.

Alexa Bliss vs Rhea Ripley

Bliss vs Ripley is a match that could very well take place at WrestleMania. Either one could capture the title at Fastlane before entering into a feud leading into the event.

The driving force behind it? That Royal Rumble elimination. Bliss entered the rumble match with strong momentum from her matches with Asuka and her feud with Randy Orton. After a brief fracas, fans and wrestlers alike waited for Bliss to transform. But as the screen flickered, Ripley was not having it and launched Bliss out of the ring. It is the perfect set up for a rivalry.

With Ripley’s arrival on RAW seemingly imminent, Bliss could exact her revenge on the “Nightmare”, setting up an exciting feud between them. Ripley’s power and strength countered by Bliss’ speed and ability to summon otherworldly forces would make a great spectacle.
