Wisconsin basketball is aiming to wrap up the regular season with a win over the Iowa Hawkeyes.
The upper class of the Big Ten is legitimate with four teams vying for spots on the top line in the NCAA Tournament. The Wisconsin Badgers are not one of those teams, making their season feel like a bit of a disappointment after they entered the year with high expectations.
It’s not like Wisconsin is on the bubble with a 16-10 record since all but a handful of their losses have come to teams that will make the field. The Badgers have been limping down the stretch, however, dropping seven of their past 11 games, including their current two-game losing skid to Illinois and Purdue.
In Wisconsin’s last test, the Purdue Boilermakers shot 48 percent from the floor in a 73-69 triumph, another tight game that simply didn’t go the Badgers’ way. Wisconsin will look to get on track ahead of the Big Ten Tournament today as they wrap up the regular season with a game against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Unlike the Badgers, the Hawkeyes have been in that top tier of Big Ten teams that looks like it can contend for a national championship. Iowa had an easy time with Nebraska earlier this week, blowing out the Cornhuskers 102-64 behind 26 points from Jordan Bohannon, who tied a career-high by nailing eight three-pointers in the victory.
This will be the second meeting of the season between the two Big Ten rivals, with Iowa picking up a 77-62 victory at the Kohl Center back on Feb. 18. Luka Garza dominated in that contest, scoring 30 points and grabbing eight rebounds, so the Badgers will need to find a way to slow him down in order to secure a split of the season series.
