Who is the Red Sox Game 3 starter in ALCS?

The Boston Red Sox tied the ALCS up one game apiece following their 9-5 win in Game 2. But who gets the start for the Red Sox for Game 3?

The Boston Red Sox used their 5-4 Game 1 loss to the Houston Astros as motivation on Saturday afternoon, as they got the lead early, and never surrendered it. Boston won 9-5 after grand slams by J.D. Martinez and Rafael Devers in the first and second innings respectively.

With the Red Sox now returning to Fenway Park for the next three games, fans want to know — who’s getting the start on the mound for Boston?

Who is the Red Sox Game 3 starter for ALCS?

Well, the answer is not exactly known right now. When speaking with the media following the victory, manager Alex Cora declined to name a starter on the spot.

Given that the Red Sox already used Chris Sale and Nathan Eovaldi in the first two games of the ALCS, that means it will be either Eduardo Rodriguez or Nick Pivetta that will get the start on Monday.

If there is one area the Red Sox have an advantage over the Astros in this series, it is pitching. Houston was already in trouble after Lance McCullers Jr. was not placed on their ALCS roster due to a right forearm injury. In Game 2 on Saturday, rookie Luis Garcia exited in the second inning because of what manager Dusty Baker described after the game as a knee strain in his push-off leg.

Expect Cora to give an answer as to who will start for Game 3 once we get closer to Monday night. Whoever it is, they have the potential to officially swing the momentum over to the Red Sox if they have a strong start.
