The fight immediately opened with fire. Barboza landed a painful succession of leg kicks forcing Burgos to back up and find another plan of attack. Burgos was able to make some of his strikes land to the body and the face of Barboza who has wear and tear around his right eye. As the first round began to wear down Barboza landed a beautiful back kick to Burgos and the crowd went absolutely nuts.
Barboza entered the second round covered in blood from his foot and hin from the onslaught of leg kicks to Burgos. They traded strikes each one with knockout power. Now it’s Brugos who is attacking the left leg of Barboza. It’s become anyone’s round at this point, perhaps Burgos slightly edging with the leg kicks.
The final round saw neither fighter slowing. It was full throttle from bell to bell. But it was seemingly out of nowhere when Barboza landed a right and then Burgos wobbled and then went down in a weirdly delayed knockout.
What a wild fight.
Barboza entered the fight riding on a win over Makwan Amirkhani at UFC Fight Island 5 in October 2020. Burgos was coming off a loss to Josh Emmett but had been on a three-fight win streak prior to that.
