Long-time UFC veteran, Edson Barboza, is the fighter to watch during the blockbuster UFC 262 pay-per-view event on May 15.
Edson Barboza will begin his 11th year with the UFC on Saturday night, as he takes on Shane Burgos in a featherweight tilt that will serve as the UFC 262 main card opener on pay-per-view. Barboza is looking to make it two straight wins in the Octagon, as he recently defeated Makwan Amirkhani in October 2020.
Barboza currently sits at 21-9 as a professional and has fought some of the best that the UFC has to offer. In his decade-plus run, Barboza has defeated the likes of Beneil Dariush, Gilbert Melendez, Anthony Pettis, and Paul Felder, to name a few. He also shared the Octagon with the former lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, among others.
Burgos looks to bounce back from a unanimous decision loss to Josh Emmett in June of 2020, which snapped a three-fight win streak that included a split decision win against former WEC veteran, Cub Swanson.
Edson Barboza primarily wins by KO/TKO
During his long stint in the UFC, Barboza has become accustomed to finishing his opponents early and often. Barboza has also been known for winning with unusual techniques, such as his wheel kick KO of Terry Etim at UFC 142, or his leg-kick stoppage against Rafaello Oliveira at UFC 162. Regardless of the outcome, Barboza is rarely part of a lackluster fight, making him a fan favorite each time out.
Will Barboza begin finding success at a new weight class or will Burgos keep climbing the featherweight ladder? The world will find out Saturday night.
