Trevin Jones murked Mario Bautista with second-round TKO.
Trevin Jones opened the UFC 259 fight card with a massive knockout of Mario Bautista in the second round.
In the first round, it seemed Bautista might have taken control landing the bigger harder shots but in the opening moments of the second Jones murked Bautista, dropping him and finishing him with a flurry of ground and pound before the referee was able to step in to stop it in just 40 seconds.
“It felt really great to have a full camp,” Jones said of the fight. He says this was the first fight in his last six fights where he had a full camp.
Trevin Jones secured his first official win, his first being overturned
Bautista came into the bout on a two-fight win streak, including back-to-back fight night bonus performances with wins over Jin Soo Son and Miles Johns. He was looking to extend that the three with a win over Jones in the opening bout at UFC 259 on Saturday.
Jones stepped in to replace Randy Costa. Jones was searching for his first UFC win after his debut bout with Timur Valiev was declared a no-contest after it was overturned by the NSAC after Jones was flagged for a positive marijuana test in October.
