NFL teams in need of a new starting quarterback have lots of options in the 2021 NFL Draft. Here are the five best prospects in this year’s class.

There is nothing more important in the modern NFL than having a high-quality quarterback. Teams can get everything else on their roster correct, but it’s meaningless if the right guy isn’t deployed under center. That makes evaluating quarterback prospects in the NFL Draft big business for every franchise in the league.

This year’s class has real quality at the top as well as intriguing depth that may stretch well beyond Round 1. The focus of this piece is to identify the guys who deserve to be taken early. Raw prospects like Jamie Newman or Kellen Mond might turn out to be quality starters in time, but they don’t deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as these elite prospects.

The number of signal-callers with first round grades makes the process of evaluating them against one another both complicated and exceedingly important for teams in the market for a new offensive hegemon. Keep reading to see how teams should be stacking their quarterback boards heading into the 2021 NFL Draft.

5. Kyle Trask

Mac Jones is the SEC quarterback getting the most love from NFL pundits in mock drafts at the moment, but Trask is the superior prospect. Any team that manages to land him in Round 2 is going to have a steal on their hands.

Trask isn’t the most athletic quarterback in the class, but he’s got the arm talent to make all the throws. Specifically, his ability to push the ball down the field jumps off his collegiate film. Teams looking for a passer who can really boost their vertical throw game should spend a lot of time salivating over Trask’s talents.
