Tweets of the Week: Form is temporary, Class is Permanent

While the tennis action was a little on the quieter side this week, the best elements of the sport were on full display as players were putting their best feet forward on social media.

Historically, tennis has been called “the gentlemen’s sport” and, gender imbalance aside, the top pros showed that it is still the case in the modern game. Here’s what they had to say this week.

Round 2?

The women’s final at the BNP Paribas Open was possibly the match of the year, with Paula Badosa edging out Victoria Azarenka in three tight sets. After the match, the pair had this to say to each other on Twitter.

Game recognizes game

A few days after that epic women’s final, the possible men’s match of the year took place in Antwerp with Andy Murray edging Frances Tiafoe in three hours and 45 minutes, making it one of the longest best-of-three matches in tennis history.

After the match, Tiafoe posted an extremely gracious message to Murray on Instagram which drew attention not just from the opponent, but other players.

Don’t mess with the Dragon

Last week, Su-Wei Hsieh stole the headlines by donning a dragon costume on court at the BNP Paribas Open. And then she went on to win the title.

If it ain’t broke…

We may as well stop taking pictures of players with trophies. It will never get better than that.

Rolling into the weekend like…

Just a little bit of fluff on a Friday.

First, a short heartwarming story. A woman tweeted recently that the best gift her 90-year-old grandfather could receive would be a message from Rafael Nadal.

Social media did its magic.

And just in case you are running out of gas on a Friday, try to channel some of that Gael Monfils energy to get over the finish line.
