Tweets of the week: FAA announces Toni Nadal to join coaching team

Félix Auger-Aliassime to team up with supercoach Toni Nadal

You may have heard of a certain Rafeal Nadal, holder of 20 Grand Slam titles, including 13 Roland Garros titles, as well as a five-time champion at the National Bank Open.

Anyways, his uncle, Toni Nadal, who has coached the legendary player since he was a little kid, now joins Félix as his coach. I don’t know about you, but I can’t contain my excitement over this news!

And no, Mr Clarey, this is not a joke! We don’t fool around here in Canada 💪

BJK Cup Teams are ready – and so is Team Canada!

Sorry not sorry, but we are so ready for our tie against Serbia on April 16 and 17! We may be very nice and polite, but that doesn’t mean we’re not burning with competitiveness within 🔥

You can learn more about the tie here!

By the way, I think I recognize that logo on those shirts 😂 Yes, let’s go Team Canada, whatever the sport is, we’re big supporters! 👊

Clay season is back!

One of the greatest things about tennis is the surface variety. It allows for players to develop completely different styles and become great at a particular surface. With that being said, red clay is also a beautiful sight to look at.

Speaking of the French Open, here’s the women’s defending champion, Iga Swiatek finally receiving her ‘Most Improved’ award for 2020. Glad she likes her… frisbee? 😂 Good luck this year, Iga!

Happened in the tennis world

After what was an unexpected breakup for the current best tennis couple, Gael Monfils comes back even stronger and not only are they back, they are now ENGAGED! Congrats, you two!

Milos (you must follow his account right now) definitely understands how I feel.

On the topic of relationships, the Miami Open men’s draw winner, Hubert Hurkacz, is very new at this and doesn’t really know how to act. I understand, Hubi, I understand.

Meanwhile, Bianca Andreescu is doing quite well now after a final showing at the Miami Open last week. Here’s a story she posted on Instagram where she is listening to Dragostea Din Tei, a Romanian song that was so famous in the 2000’s that even I won’t forget the lyrics. I don’t speak Romanian.

A moment of silence

On a more serious note, I would like to take this time to remember Donald Sobey, former Tennis Canada board member and Canadian grocery empire leader, who helped grow tennis in Canada immensely in his life and left behind a great legacy. You can read more here.
