Tsitsipas, Pegula and Svitolina Reach French Open Third Round – Tennis Connected

Wednesday’s coverage at Roland Garros was highlighted by former finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas cruising into the third-round of the event, dispatching Roberto Carballes Baena 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-2.

The Greek star will next face either Diego Schwartzman or Nuno Borges for a place in round four.

Elsewhere, Sebastian Ofner upended No. 24 seed Sebastian Korda 6-3, 7-6(1), 6-4, and Fabio Fognini continued his resurgence on Tour by ousting Jason Kubler 6-4, 7-6(5), 6-2.

Still to come on Wednesday, top seed Carlos Alcaraz and No. 3 seed Novak Djokovic will be in action.

On the women’s side, No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula advanced when her opponent Camila Giorgi was forced to retire trailing 6-2, and former world No. 3 Elina Svitolina continued her comeback on Tour by ousting Storm Sanders 2-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Pegula will next face No. 28 seed Elise Mertens and Svitolina will take on either fifth seed Caroline Garcia or Anna Blinkova.

Thursday’s action in Paris will feature top seed Iga Swiatek, Ons Jabeur, Casper Ruud and Holger Rune.
