Karatsev Wins Moscow Title; Sinner Captures Antwerp Crown – Tennis Connected

Russian powerhouse Aslan Karatsev captured his second title of the season on Sunday in Moscow, Russia, defeating former US Open winner Marin Cilic 6-2, 6-4. In a match that lasted one hour and 17 minutes, Karatsev won 92 percent of his first serve points and struck two aces.

Breaking his Croatian opponent on three occasions, Karatsev tied his head-to-head meetings with Cilic at 1-1 and will move up to No. 18 in the world when Monday’s rankings are released.

Cilic, who was looking for his 20th career title, won the event in Stuttgart earlier this year.

Italian upstart Jannik Sinner took home his fourth title of 2021 on Sunday in Antwerp, Belgium, dismissing Diego Schwartzman 6-2, 6-2. Needing a mere one hour and 17 minutes to complete his victory, Sinner smashed eight aces, and won 91 percent of his first serve points.

Claiming titles in Melbourne, Washington and Sofia earlier this year, Sinner will move up to No. 11 in the rankings on Monday.

Schwartzman, who aiming for his fifth career title, dismissed Jenson Brooksby and Brandon Nakashima earlier in the tournament. The Argentine will be ranked No. 16 on Monday.
