For the first time ever, Wimbledon is allowing practice time on Centre Court ahead of the Championships.
On Thursday Rafael Nadal and Matteo Berrettini did the honors, playing a practice session on the storied court.

The idea is to put some wear on the surface in order to minimize slipping in the early rounds.
The grass will be under considerable strain this year, as the tournament has also elected to play on the middle Sunday, which has been a day of rest historically. Expect those brown patches to be rather, well, brown, by the second week.
