Basilashvili Wins Qatar Open; Medvedev Reaches Marseille Final; Garin Advances in Santiago – Tennis Connected

Nikoloz Basilashvili capped off a sensational week of tennis in Doha, Qatar on Saturday, defeats No. 5 seed Roberto Bautista Agut 7-6(5), 6-2 to win his fourth career title. Using his potent arsenal of forehands and backhands, Basilashvili won 74 percent of his first serve points, hit four aces and broke serve on two occasions. Never facing a break point during the one hour and 29 minute encounter, Basilashvili defeated Roger Federer and Taylor Fritz earlier in the week.

The 29-year-old will move up to No. 37 in the world in Monday’s rankings. He entered the event ranked No. 42.

Bautista Agut, who recently made the finals in Montpellier, France, upended inform Andrey Rublev in the semifinals.
