Kevin Durant doesn’t want you to know how tall he really is. Even if you ask, he probably won’t tell you the whole truth.
With a completely unfiltered social media presence, Kevin Durant is about as accessible a professional athlete as you’re likely to find. But random thoughts and trolling responses isn’t quite the same as answering the questions we all really want answers to.
Luckily, In a recent video, Durant answered rapid-fire questions submitted by fans. Among those was whether there was a question he wished people would stop asking him. His answer: “How tall are you?”
You know that thing where someone tells you not to look down and the first thing your brain does is make you look down? Well…
So how tall is Kevin Durant?
Durant is currently listed at 6-foot-10 on the NBA website. Earlier in his career, he was listed at 6-foot-9 but he has also admitted publicly that neither of those numbers may be correct. A somewhat famous picture of Durant with Team USA teammates from 2016 makes him appear to taller than DeMarcus Cousins (listed at 6-foot-10) and Deandre Jordan (listed at 6-foot-11)
In a 2016 interview with KNBR radio after that photo was shared, he said: “Since I love you guys so much, I was recorded at 6-foot-10 and three-quarters with no shoes, so with my shoes on I’m 7-feet.”
When asked why he has always insisted on being listed shorter, Durant said, “I just like messin’ with people. They just ask me so much… yeah, I just like messin’ with people.”
So even six years ago he was tired of the question.
For the record, NBA player heights are usually listed as shoes-on, so you’re probably safe referring to Durant as a 7-footer, even if he doesn’t like you saying it.
