Jared Dudley out for foreseeable future with MCL tear

The injury bug continues to bite the Los Angeles Lakers, with Jared Dudley the latest individual to hit the sidelines.

The Los Angeles Lakers have had a bad week in terms of injury news. Big man Anthony Davis is set to miss at least the next two weeks as he gets re-evaluated for his right leg injuries, while bench option Alex Caruso was placed in concussion protocol. If you thought the injuries would end there, then you were sadly mistaken.

On Sunday, the Lakers announced that forward Jared Dudley has been diagnosed with a right MCL tear and a right knee contusion. The timeline for Dudley’s return is still up in the air, as he is still evaluating his treatment options.

Jared Dudley the latest Lakers player to go down with injury

Dudley has not had any luck in terms of health. Earlier this season, he missed a significant chunk of time after picking up a right calf injury. Unfortunately, even when he has taken the court this season, he’s been a non-factor.

In just 11 games this season (all off the bench), Dudley has tallied 19 rebounds, six points and five assists while shooting 28.6 percent from the field. His most recent game came on March 3 against the Sacramento Kings, where he recorded 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal in 14 minutes of playing time.

The Lakers returned from the All-Star break with a big win over the Indiana Pacers on Friday. However, that was the very game in which Caruso suffered his concussion. With the March 25 trade deadline rapidly approaching, it is unknown if the Lakers will be enticed to make a move, given the growing number of players on the injury list.

After signing a one-year deal to return to the Lakers this season, it remains to be seen if Dudley will return to the court any time soon.
