We may find out soon where J.J. Watt will be playing next season, as the star pass-rusher is reportedly down to three teams.
And then there were three. Everyone is waiting to see who touted pass-rusher J.J. Watt will sign with and it now looks like there are only three teams left in the sweepstakes to bring him to town.
According to NFL insider John Clayton, the veteran defensive end has narrowed things down to the Green Bay Packers, Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans. While many folks out there thought he could end up playing for the Browns or Steelers, that won’t be the case.
J.J. Watt is down to three teams and could be making a decision soon
While the three teams Clayton lists aren’t surprising, it is a bit head-turning that Cleveland and Pittsburgh didn’t make the cut. Multiple reports had linked Watt to the Browns, with ESPN’s Ed Werder even saying the defensive end’s final decision could come down to what he thinks of Baker Mayfield.
Now, though, we know that won’t matter to Watt, as he’ll be inking with either the Packers, Bills or Titans. All three teams were in the postseason this past campaign, with Green Bay and Buffalo playing in the NFC Championship Game and AFC Championship Game, respectively.
After going through some lean years with the Houston Texans, including a 4-12 season in 2020, Watt has made it perfectly clear that he wants to head to a contender and try to compete for a Super Bowl ring. All three of the teams Clayton says he’s down too could give him that opportunity.
Where will Watt end up playing come next fall? It’s feeling like we could get our answer to that question sooner than later.
