Gary Woodland’s wayward tee shot bounced into a spectator’s cup holder for a different kind of hole-in-one

Do you remember that Tigers Woods-Rory McIlroy commercial where the two golf icons were battling on the driving range with all sorts of trick shots to put the ball into any and every cup?

It might be time to put Gary Woodland in the sequel. Especially after the wizardry he pulled off on Thursday during play at the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mississippi.

After lining up his tee shot, Woodland watched his drive go a bit off course but still ended up with a hole-in-one. It just wasn’t the hole he was aiming for.

Nope. It was the cup holder of a spectator’s folding chair. Even the announcers were amazed.

I understand you can’t score that as an ace, but it should count for something—a free drink? He gets to keep the chair? You get the point.

If only all misses on the golf course could be this impressive so many more people would avoid breaking their clubs in frustration.
