West Ham: Claret & Hugh drop Zouma update

West Ham United have been handed a major injury boost ahead of their Premier League fixture this evening.

What’s the latest?

That’s according to a claim made by Claret & Hugh, who revealed in a recent post that, despite earlier reports suggesting that Kurt Zouma would require a scan on his recurring knee injury, the centre-back has now decided against having a scan and has made himself available for selection for the visit of Watford tonight.

In the post, the West Ham insider said: “Kurt Zouma ended David Moyes’ worries this morning by deciding he is fit to play against Watford. The single-minded central defender – having decided he wouldn’t undergo surgery on his knee injury earlier and making a rapid return – has decided against a scan following a late problem against Kidderminster.

“It was believed the player would need to be scanned but has decided against it and instead is making himself available for the game. It will come as a big relief to all of us who probably felt that he was a doubtful starter for the game after hobbling towards the end of Saturday’s game and seeming reluctant to receive the ball.

“However, we have learned that he considers himself in good shape and ready to play if selected for the game against the Hornets.”

Considering just how important Zouma has been since his £29.8m signing last summer, the news that the defender looks set to be available for selection again is sure to have left both the 58-year-old West Ham boss and fans of the club elated.

Indeed, over his 12 Premier League appearances so far this season, the £28.8m-rated France international has been in exceptional form for the Hammers, helping his side to keep two clean sheets and scoring one goal, as well as making an average of 1.1 interceptions, 0.6 tackles and five clearances and winning 59% of his duels per game.

These returns have seen the £120k-per-week centre-back average a highly impressive SofaScore match rating of 6.90, ranking him as Moyes’ joint tenth-best performer in the top flight of English football.

As such, with West Ham hoping to get their top-four push back on track with a victory against Watford, it is clear for all to see that the availability of the defender will provide the club’s chances of securing all three points this evening with a major boost.
