AC Milan have an overarching feeling that midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has agreed to move to Manchester United, according to a report.
Speculation began in November last year that the Turk has become a key Red Devils transfer target.
Amid such talk, though, Milan have tried for some months to tie him down to a new deal. Indeed, his current terms expire in the summer and he has yet to make a firm decision.
However, Todofichajes claims that there is a feeling among Milan officials that Calhanoglu has made up his mind.
The 27-year-old is currently on a financial package worth €2million (£1.7million) per season.
But while Milan have offered to increase that figure to €4million (£3.4million), they have yet to hear back from the player.
What’s more, with time quickly running out, there is a feeling that Calhanoglu is in contact with United.
Indeed, Milan feel that he has already signed a pre-contract agreement with the Red Devils.
Todofichajes adds that ‘everything indicates’ that Calhanoglu will be one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s ‘star signings’ ahead of next season.
The source notes that United have ‘long’ wanted to sign the midfielder and could soon get their wish.
Calhanoglu has proved a fantastic addition to Milan since his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen in 2017. He has played 155 games for the Rossoneri and has continued to have a crucial influence this term.
The Turkey international has scored six goals and assisted 11 others this season. What’s more, nine of those assists have come in the Italian top flight.
He has only missed three Serie A games this term after contracting coronavirus in January.
Fernandes stunner not enough for Man Utd
Calhanoglu’s signing would see him add another exciting attacking dimension to United’s midfield.
Bruno Fernandes’ impact has proved immense and he showed that again on Sunday, scoring a stunner in the 1-1 draw with West Brom.
However, amid a largely sluggish Red Devils performance, they could not find a winner.
Speaking after the match, Solskjaer urged VAR officials to “brew some coffee” and wake up.
