Antonio Rudiger insists he can help Chelsea if they target any of three Bayern Munich players during the summer transfer window.
The Blues are expected to strengthen in the off-season as Thomas Tuchel makes his mark on the club. The German coach has inherited Frank Lampard’s squad but will have his own ideas in the summer.
Tuchel has made it clear he wants defensive reinforcements. And he may target players back in his homeland to get the job done.
Boateng and Alaba will both fall out of contract at the end of the campaign. Sule also seems vulnerable to a move as he has failed to nail down a regular starting berth this season.
The west Londoners are said to have opened negotiations with his representatives. And it seems as though Rudiger is more than happy to help smooth any possible recruitment from Germany.
“If Chelsea were to decide on one of the three players as a transfer target, I would be available to answer any questions,” he told Bild. “I know Jerome and Niklas very well and I’ve already had contact with David Alaba.”
However, Bild journalist Christian Falk has stressed (via Twitter) that Rudiger has had “general” contact with Alaba, as opposed to talks over a transfer to Chelsea.
Rudiger praises Tuchel’s Chelsea tactics
There is no question that the new manager has made a difference to Chelsea. Five wins from six seems to have removed the negativity that had threatened the club’s progress.
Rudiger has been a beneficiary of the new coach’s arrival. He is now back among the starters after struggling for game time under Lampard.
And the Germany international has picked out a few traits that make his manager special.
“Anyone who knows Tuchel, knows that he’s a man who leaves nothing to a coincidence,” he added. “He works in great detail, Tuchel is a tactical fox.”
Chelsea sit fourth in the Premier League standings, with 42 points from 24 games played. It is a marked improvement to how things were going under the previous manager.
Their next task is a trip to the south coast to take on struggling Southampton on Saturday.
