Pogba stance on Man Utd future emerges after sending Sancho message

Paul Pogba is open to signing a new contract with Manchester United, according to reports.

Pogba’s current contract at Old Trafford expires in 2022. His agent Mino Raiola commented in December that United would have to sell him in the summer because he was not happy at the club.

That seems to have changed, with Pogba finding his form again in recent weeks. The midfielder scored two goals in January, regaining his starting role.

Raiola has since retracted his claims, suggesting he was merely giving his opinion. Now, it seems he may have some negotiating to do with United.

According to Andy Mitten, speaking to United.no, Pogba is now keen to sign a new contract with United.

The Frenchman came through the youth ranks at United, before being released and joining Juventus. He soon matured into one of Europe’s best midfielders, prompting United to spend a then-world-record fee to bring him back in 2016.

Pogba has not always lived up to his price tag, but remains one of the world’s best on his day. For example, he proved his qualities when helping France win the 2018 World Cup.

This season, he has provided four goals and two assists from 28 games in all competitions.

It is not yet clear how long any new contract he signs could last. However, if the 27-year-old is to sign up again at Old Trafford, it will likely mean he spends the rest of his prime years there.

Pogba has previously attracted interest from Real Madrid and his former club Juventus. He now may be ready to put those rumours behind him.

Pogba sends Sancho message

Meanwhile, Pogba has sent a cheeky message to Jadon Sancho, who was United’s top target last summer.

The Red Devils spent the whole transfer window trying to lure the England winger away from Borussia Dortmund. However, they could not meet the Bundesliga side’s asking price.

Sancho has continued to be linked with United, though – and now Pogba has sent a teasing message.

After the pair featured in a Pepsi advert, Pogba tweeted: “Finally on the same team @Sanchooo10 – the @PepsiGlobal team!”

Whether they actually get to line up alongside each other on a pitch in the United shirt remains to be seen.
