Mbappe wants to bring Man City star to PSG in the summer as exit rumours pick up pace

According to reports, PSG forward Kylian Mbappe wants his club to sign Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva in the summer.

Barcelona were reportedly keen on a move for Silva during the summer, but they couldn’t match the asking price set by Man City.

The 28-year-old continues to be an important player for City as he has featured in 19 of their 20 Premier League matches so far, starting 15 of them.

So far this season he has chipped in with seven goal contributions in the league, with two goals and five assists.

His current deal at the Etihad runs until the summer of 2025, but he has been considering his future at the club for some time now.

According to a report from The Sun, Mbappe would ‘love’ Silva to join him next season. The pair played together at Monaco and won the Ligue 1 title together in 2016-17.

Pep Guardiola remains to be a big fan of Silva and he would surely be reluctant to let one of his key players leave without replacing him first.

Following Man City victory over Crystal Palace earlier in the season, Guardiola told reporters: “I’m happy that Bernardo became a winning player.

“Of course the highlights will be of Erling. But we cannot forget what Bernardo has done, scoring the goal and creating down the right side in the second half.

“What amazes me about Bernardo is that when the game is going wrong he makes a step forward, he loves to play in this situation. He’s comfortable with it,” added Guardiola.

“Some players maybe step backwards, and he makes a step forward. That’s why he is irreplaceable in many ways for us.

“He’s so important, he can play in four or five positions. And it’s not just on the pitch, it’s off it too. In the locker room, I want him here so much.”

Silva is especially useful for a manager like Guardiola because of how versatile he is. The playmaker can play on the wing or through the middle and is a popular player at the Etihad.

It is worth mentioning that despite his influence on the way Man City play, Silva himself is enduring somewhat of a goal drought at the moment.

Silva has not scored or assisted in his last 18 matches for both club and country. Guardiola is constantly looking to refresh his side and perhaps Silva could be the next big star to leave.
