What’s the word?
The club’s need for a new number one has come as a result of an injury to Dean Henderson who had suffered a grade two tear in his thigh earlier this month and so he now faces a spell on the sidelines expected to be between four to six weeks.
While speaking about it all on BBC Transfer Gossip Daily, White said that this could be a good move for the club in both the long and short term.
He explained: “I think this is a really, really intriguing idea for Forest. Dean Henderson their first-choice goalkeeper is injured, he’s likely to be out for a month is the understanding.
“And anyway, he’s on loan for Manchester United – they could do with a really experienced ‘keeper to come in. Wayne Hennessey is the reserve. But no, actually, I think that would work for them.”
Do you want NFFC to sign Keylor Navas?
While that initial report linking the club with Navas also says it would just be a loan, Forest could try and include an option to buy from PSG.
Regardless of if they could do that or not, they certainly would be bringing in a top goalkeeper for the time being. After all, the 36-year-old has won the Champions League, La Liga, Ligue 1, and numerous other trophies during spells in France and also with Real Madrid in Spain.
However, he has played just twice in France this season and so Navas may well be up for a move to England if Forest can promise him regular game time.
