Euro Paper Talk: Kabak plan clear as Liverpool eye deal for Man Utd target

Liverpool open talks hoping to snatch a Man Utd target away from Old Trafford, while Everton spring into action over a double deal – both in all the latest Euro Paper Talk.

REDS OPEN TALKS FOR DEFENDER

Liverpool have opened initial talks with the agents of Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, according to a report.

Calciomercato reports that Jurgen Klopp’s side, Manchester United and Tottenham have all shown interest in the Serbian.

Indeed, the Premier League trio have all entertained links with Milenkovic in recent weeks in their hunt for a top new defensive signing this summer.

According to the Italian publication, the three sides have ‘tested the water’ with the player’s representatives over a deal in the upcoming transfer window.

In fact, United have already begun to ‘evaluate’ the financial costs of a final deal for the centre-back.

Nevertheless, Liverpool remain firmly in the race and, as Sport Witness points out, their interest could well signal that a plan is in place for Ozan Kabak.

The Turkish defender moved on loan to the Reds in January, with an option to make the deal permanent. But if Liverpool are planning to bring in a top new player, Kabak will likely return to Schalke.

In any case, Calciomercato adds that Milenkovic decided ‘long ago’ that he wanted to seek a new challenge to advance his career.

The 23-year-old’s contract runs out in the summer of 2022 and Fiorentina have not yet given up hope of tying him down.

However, the Serie A side are aware that the likelihood of an extension is ‘now very low’.
