The Milwaukee Brewers are taking a significant blow to their infield with Kolten Wong being placed on the IL due to an oblique injury.
The Milwaukee Brewers are going to be playing without their star second baseman for a bit.
On Saturday, Kolten Wong will be placed on the 10-day Injured List with an oblique injury, sources tell FanSided.
At 3-4, Milwaukee is already off to a slow start in the NL Central, sitting three games behind the surging, first-place Cincinnati Reds. Wong was struggling to get off the ground in his debut season with the Brewers, hitting only .105 with a stolen bases in 19 plate appearances.
To replace Wong on the active 26-man roster, Milwaukee is calling up Jace Pederson, per sources.
Wong, 30, played his first eight years with the St. Louis Cardinals before joining their divisional foe this winter on a two-year deal — including a team option for 2023 — worth $18 million.
