Barcelona vs. Paris Saint-Germain at Camp Nou on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Here’s all the info you need to watch this Champions League match.
The Champions League round of 16 begins on Tuesday with a marquee matchup between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain at Camp Nou. The Parisians won their group to earn homefield advantage in the second leg. While Barcelona finished second to Juventus in Group G, despite picking up 15 of 18 points in the group stage.
Barcelona have been on fire lately. Ronald Koeman’s team have won seven straight La Liga games and are unbeaten in their last in their last 11 domestic games. However, they’re still a distant third place in the table, eight points behind Atletico Madrid, who also have a game in hand. Barcelona, as they have for the past 15 seasons, will rely on Lionel Messi to drive their attack. The Argentine superstar has 19 goals and eight assists in all competitions this season. After struggling in their first season at the Camp Nou, Antoine Griezmann and Frenkie de Jong are both playing much better. Barcelona will need all three players to perform if they are going to knock off PSG.
Paris Saint-Germain have dominated Ligue 1, winning seven of the previous eight league titles. However, this season, PSG have struggled and are second to Lille. Ultimately, PSG’s disappointing domestic start to the season cost Thomas Tuchel his job. The Parisians replaced Tuchel with former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino. In eight games under Pochettino, PSG have picked up 19 of 24 points. Injuries have played a role in PSG’s struggles.
Neymar will miss the first leg against Barcelona, while Juan Bernat and Angel Di Maria are questionable to play. If both Neymar and Di Maria are unable to play, it would be a major blow to PSG’s attack. Neymar and Di Maria have combined for 18 goals and 18 assists in all competitions. Should both be unable to play, Pochettino will rely on Kylian Mbappe and Moise Kean. After a disastrous first season at Everton, Kean moved to PSG on loan and have far exceeded expectations. Kean has scored 13 goals in 24 games.
