Aspen Ladd responds to Miesha Tate’s weight-cutting criticism ahead of UFC Vegas 40 (Video)

Aspen Ladd took the time to respond to Miesha Tate’s weight-cutting criticism ahead of UFC Vegas 40.

UFC bantamweight and featherweight contender Aspen Ladd has heard it all before when it comes to her weight cutting issues, but not from a former UFC champion and MMA pioneer such as Miesha Tate.

Following Ladd’s bad weight miss ahead of UFC Vegas 38 just weeks ago, Tate roasted Ladd on social media and accused her of attempting to cheat the scale. Ladd has struggled to make weight on multiple occasions but has only missed weight twice during her career.

During her UFC Vegas 40 pre-fight interview, Ladd responded to Tate’s fiery posts.

“I respect her very much as a fighter, and I’ve wanted to fight her since she came back,” Ladd said. “She’s probably one of the biggest names in women’s MMA besides Ronda Rousey and Cris Cyborg. There’s just a thing that when something’s going through something that’s not pleasant, I’d rather never make them feel worse.”

“Other people don’t feel that way. We’ll see, maybe we’ll meet down the road.”

Aspen Ladd remains a top contender at bantamweight and featherweight

Ladd will fill in on short notice in the UFC Vegas 40 main event against Norma Dumont, who was originally supposed to face former champion, Holly Holm. After suffering an injury in camp, Holm withdrew from the fight, and Ladd was offered a 145-pound bout with Dumont.

All eyes will be on Ladd as she makes her way to the scales ahead of UFC Vegas 40, but will undoubtedly have an easier weight cut than if it was a bantamweight fight. The third-ranked bantamweight contender will look to steal the show and move into the title picture.

UFC Vegas 40 takes place on Oct. 16, 2021, live from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, NV. Follow along with FanSided who is on-site with all your live news and highlights.
