Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury: Two Huge Fights 100% Agreed Back-to-Back For 2021


Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury was agreed on by all parties involved to take place twice in 2021 as early as June of last year. 9 Months on, Top Rank, MTK and Queensberry Promotions have been in deep negotiations with Matchroom Boxing (Eddie Hearn) and 258 Management. Terms for Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury have now been 100% agreed upon after months of discussions.

Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury is a two-fight deal with the first fight expected to take place in June and the second taking place in November/December. With the WBO ordering Usyk vs Joyce, Fury-Joshua will be all 4 belts and the winner will be undisputed at heavyweight. However, it is likely that all 4 titles will not be on the line for the second fight and the winner of Usyk-Joyce will be elevated to full WBO champion.

Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury 1 is expected to take place in June of 2021 with a possible date labelled as June 19.

Eddie Hearn has stated that 6 countries are in the running for Joshua Fury 1. One of the countries is Saudi Arabia as when Hearn staged Ruiz-Joshua 2 there, he signed a two-fight deal with them and built strong relations.

Saudi Arabia like many other countries will also be able to provide a huge site fee for hosting the event and will likely allow strong crowds. Other possible contenders for hosting Fury-Joshua are Dubai (where MTK Global have staged events before and will stage Herring-Frampton, Qatar, China and Las Vegas in the United States.

Las Vegas would want a strong statement as the city is the home of entertainment and has pretty much been shut down for the last year. Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury would be a grand way of showing the city is reopen for business. In addition, the Allegiance Stadium are working with Top Rank and Matchroom to possibly stage Ramirez vs Taylor and/or Canelo vs Saunders.

The Broadcaster situation is unknown as of yet. We do know that Anthony Joshua has an exclusive deal with Sky Sports in the UK and a Matching rights deal with DAZN in the USA. Tyson Fury has an exclusive deal with ESPN in the United States and a matching deal with BT Sport in the UK. 4 different broadcasters, however, this is not expected to be too much of a concern.

Promoter Eddie Hearn claims that television rights for the fight will not be a huge concern and broadcast could be shared. It is expected that DAZN will have global rights to Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury in every country except the UK and the USA. The UK rights will either be a joint-PPV on Sky and BT Sports or be exclusively on Sky Sports. The USA rights could be a joint-PPV on DAZN and ESPN or could be exclusively on ESPN PPV.

Whether Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury will be PPV in the United States is unknown as of yet. The Fight will be primetime in the UK and has two British participants which make it slightly less likely. There is expected to be an all-time high PPV price in the UK for Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury of a minimum of £29.95.

With the WBO ordering Usyk vs Joyce, Fury-Joshua will be all 4 belts and the winner will be undisputed at heavyweight. However, it is likely that all 4 titles will not be on the line for the second fight and the winner of Usyk-Joyce will be elevated to full WBO champion. In addition to this, the winner will also have a WBC Mandatory from the winner of Povetkin-Whyte 2.

The WBA is also expected to instil a mandatory at some point in 2022 with Trevor Bryan beating Bermane Stiverne for the WBA Regular crown and several WBA Eliminator and Gold title bouts being planned such as Ruiz Arreola (which could be April 24 on FOX PPV), Helenius Kownacki 2, Ortiz-Dinu. The IBF have ordered Hrogiv-Hunter as a final eliminator as well.
