Angels expect to see a new Shohei Ohtani in 2021

The expectations are high for Shohei Ohtani in 2021 and the star pitcher/slugger has been working overtime to get himself ready for the new campaign.

Spring training is here and MLB fans everywhere can’t wait to see what some of the biggest stars will be able to do in 2021. It goes without saying, but there will be countless eyes on Los Angeles Angels standout Shohei Ohtani.

After undergoing Tommy John Surgery in 2018, Ohtani has worked tirelessly to get himself back close to 100 percent. In 2020, he returned to the mound and made two starts for the Angels during the shortened campaign.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned, as he gave up seven earned runs in only 1.2 innings of work. Despite those struggles, Ohtani is jacked up for this season and has been working overtime to prepare himself to bounce back this spring.

LA Angels star Shohei Ohtani is hoping to prove his haters wrong this season

Per The Athletic, Ohtani mixed things up this offseason, changing up his diet, workout schedule and more to make sure he’s at his absolute best this campaign. If you’re an Angels’ fan, this simply has to be music to your ears.

The team has suffered some lean years of late, but the hope is that they’ll be able to get back into a competitive position in the AL West and instill some fear into the Oakland Athletics and Houston Astros.

For that to happen, the team will need Ohtani, Mike Trout and the other stars on the club to be sharp in 2021 from start to finish. After a disappointing 2020 season for the Angels, we’ll see if Ohtani can help power them to a memorable season in 2021 for the supporters to enjoy.
